"Popular Periodicals and Irish National Culture in the 1830s and 1840s"
This project examines and compares three penny periodicals and the newspaper The Nation, their editors and writers, their readers, and their contents. Through their study it will assess the role of the popular periodical press in the formation of Irish national identity during the 1830s and 1840s.
