Studentships

NCLA is actively seeking partnerships with industry as part of the EU Marie Curie, Initial Training Network (ITN), programme launched earlier this year.  The initiatives are particularly relevant to the Structure Phd Programmes developed by at the NCLA in recent years.

- European Industrial Doctorates (EID)
These are proposed as a new implementation mode under the ITN Action in 2012 with the objective of training highly-skilled researchers and to stimulate entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation in Europe. This is to be achieved in particular by involving industry in doctoral training so that skills generated better match private sector needs. Each EID is composed of one academic institution and one participant from the private sector. These must be established in two different Member States or Associated Countries. Each participating researcher must be enrolled in a doctoral programme and spend at least 50% of their time at the induustrial participant. Supervision is to be provided by supervisors from each participant. A wider set of associated partners may also complement the training.  Funding for is provided for a 36 month period per researcher.  Enquiries from interested industry and students are welcome to gerard.oconnor""nuigalway.ie.
