The aim of this module is to build further on the knowledge and skills acquired in your clinical practice. The module begins by addressing vascular issues encountered in the intensive care unit. It goes on to discuss acute trauma nursing and neurological dysfunction. The unit finishes with an overview of caring for special patient populations in intensive care. The overall aim of the module is to enhance further your knowledge of the principles of intensive care nursing.
This module is comprised of four units
Unit 1: This unit will focus on the assessment and management of patients requiring vascular surgery.
Unit 2: This unit will address the care of patients admitted to intensive care with acute trauma including burns.
Unit 3: This unit explores the nursing care of patients with neurological disorders and dysfunction in intensive care.
Unit 4: This unit explores the nursing care of patients from special populations including; paediatric, obstetric, bariatric and geriatric patients.

Requirement for Undertaking the Module:
Student need to be working in an Intensive care setting or a High Dependency unit.
