This module has as its theme the prevention of anaesthetic complications. It will address care of the patient in relation to general anaesthesia, regional anaesthesia and recovery from anaesthesia. The application of knowledge will be related to the obstetric patient, ENT surgery trauma management and specific anaesthetic complications.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module the student will be able to:
- Critically appraise the assessment, intervention and evaluation of patients undergoing general anaesthesia
- Critically appraise the assessment, intervention and evaluation of patients undergoing regional anaesthesia
- Critically appraise the assessment, intervention and evaluation of patients undergoing emergency anaesthesia
- Critically appraise the assessment, intervention and evaluation of patients recovering from anaesthesia

Requirement for Undertaking the Module:
All students need to be working in the Perioperative setting with exposure to Anaesthetic.
