The aim of this module is to enable students to develop the nursing knowledge, skills and expertise necessary to effectively meet the holistic needs of patients and their families requiring emergency nursing care. This module focuses specifically on patients who need specialist nursing care in relation to respiratory, cardiac and haematological emergencies.
There are five units in this module:
Unit 1: Respiratory Emergencies – Assessment
Unit 2: Respiratory Emergencies – Specific Conditions
Unit 3: Cardiovascular Emergencies
Unit 4: Arrhythmias and Cardiac Arrest
Unit 5: Haematological and Endocrine Emergencies
The module lasts 10 weeks; students have two weeks to complete each unit.

Requirement for Undertaking the Module:
Student need to be exposed to acute medical and surgical patients either in a general ward or in the emergency department. |
