This module offers you the opportunity to develop further your knowledge and skills in tissue viability, and so improve your practice in this specialised area of care. The module explores the physiological and psychosocial components of the patient experience, along with the knowledge and practical skills needed to perform holistic assessment and to provide safe, informed treatment. The aim of this module is to enhance not only your clinical competence, but also your skills as a change agent to develop and provide an effective service.

Unit 2: Wound Care Products and Managing Acute Wounds
Unit 3: Chronic Wounds and Wound Bed Preparation
Unit 4: Pressure Ulcers and Leg Ulcers
Unit 5: Future Developments and Professional Practice Issues.

Advanced skills in assessment, differential diagnosis, selection of appropriate treatments and wound care management techniques is facilitated in face to face skills workshops and assessed through skills based assessment.
