This module aims to establish an in depth knowledge of the fundamental principles of orthopaedic nursing. The module is designed to enable participants to develop the nursing knowledge, skills and expertise necessary to effectively meet holistic needs of patients and their families requiring orthopaedic nursing care. This knowledge builds upon the existing knowledge and experience participants bring to the programme. This enables them to explore their role within the multidisciplinary team and to develop skilled and innovative approaches to orthopaedic nursing.
There are four units in this module:
Unit 1: Appropriate Interventions in pre and post operative orthopaedic care
Unit 2: Infection control in orthopaedic care
Unit 3: Nursing care of inflammatory joint disease
Unit 4: Assessment and management of pain in orthopaedic care

Target Market
All R.G.N’s working in medical and surgical settings with exposure to patients with orthopaedic conditions.
Prerequisite
Be a registered nurse on the General Nurse Division of the register maintained by An Bord Altranais. |
