The aim of this module is to support nurses and midwives in publishing their research, audit or clinical innovation. This module is viewed as a type of mentoring process to help nurses and midwives learn how to write for professional publication.
The module content focuses on three themes as follows:
Unit 1: Overview: how the publishing process works and how to identify what to publish (two weeks)
Unit 2: Developing your writing skills for publication (three weeks)
Unit 3: The reviewing process (one week)
Following completion of the three units, each participant works with a supervisor on the module team in writing, redrafting and editing a paper in preparation for submission to a peer-reviewed journal.
The module team all have a track record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals. The team is led by Dr Maura Dowling.
Who is this module suitable for?
The module is targeted at nurses and midwives in advanced practice or specialist practice roles, and nurses and midwives who have completed a Master’s degree.
