Biography:

Dr. Tony Hall is Interim Assistant Head of the School of Education, and Lecturer in Educational Technology, School of Education, National University of Ireland, Galway.
He is a graduate of the University of Limerick (B.A. Physical Education and English, 1998; Ph.D. Computer Science, 2004) and NUI Galway (Master of Information Technology, 2000). He has also completed the Dioplóma sa Ghaeilge (2008, NUIG) and Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (2012, NUIG).
Tony teaches on a range of courses at NUI Galway, including graduate and undergraduate initial teacher education; continuing professional development for teachers and educators; and educational research to master and doctoral level.
He was previously a secondary school ICT co-ordinator and teacher (English, ICT, Physical Education and SPHE: Social, Personal and Health Education).
Tony is an educationist with research interests that include educational technology, the learning sciences and design-based research; narrative and storytelling in education; English and ICT pedagogies; physical education; and the history and philosophy of education. 
He was previously Research Fellow in Learning Sciences at the Learning Sciences Research Institute (LSRI),
University of Nottingham, and a Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) visiting researcher at the Center for Informal Learning and Schools (CILS), Exploratorium (Museum of Science, Art and Human Perception), San Francisco. Dr. Hall is also a Convenor and Joint Programme Director of the Structured Ph.D. Learning Sciences, NUI Galway. Tony is Editor of the Education Matters Yearbook 2012 - Your Companion Reader on Irish Education.                      

Research Interests

Tony is an educationist with research interests that include educational technology, the learning sciences and design-based research; narrative and storytelling in education; English and ICT pedagogies; physical education; and the history and philosophy of education.
He was previously Research Fellow in Learning Sciences at the Learning Sciences Research Institute (LSRI),
University of Nottingham, and a Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) visiting researcher at the Center for Informal Learning and Schools (CILS), Exploratorium (Museum of Science, Art and Human Perception), San Francisco.
