Biography

Barry has a B. Eng. in Materials Engineering from University of Limerick followed by over 20 years R&D experience in industry. During this time he also part-time completed an M. Eng., a Project Management Diploma and his PhD. Industrial experience has been mainly in the medical device industry working on product and technology development. Barry returned to academia in 2008, working as PI and project manager on a range of medical device projects including biodegradable materials, peripheral vascular stents and tracheobronchial devices. He is currently working on a collaborative project with Mayo Clinic (US) to develop a novel ablation therapy for the treatment of atrial fibrillation.
