Biography:

<<Graduate of UK Newcastle (BA), Nottingham (MA) and Manchester (PhD) universities. Researcher, compiler and editor for the Index of English Literary Manuscripts, based in the British Library. L/SL/Pl lecturer in Literary Studies at the University of Worcester, UK; Head of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Worcester (2002-08); awarded personal professorship in 2007. Full-time, fixed term contract lecturer at NUI Galway from 2008.>>

Research Interests

Nineteenth-century literature, particularly fiction and drama. 19C serial fiction, the publishing industry, and the periodical press. Victorian drama, particularly playwrighting and publishing. Archaeology, anthropology, ethnography and its representation in 19C fiction and drama. Figures of specialist interest: W.M. Thackeray, Charles Dickens, Wilkie Collins, William Morris.
