Biography:
| Joe completed his doctoral thesis at University College Cork in 2011. It was entitled "Criminalising Companies and Companies Officers: A new Architecture of Regulatory Enforcement". He also graduated with a first class honors Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) from UCC in 2007. Prior to joining the School of Law at NUI Galway, he held visiting fellowships at Harvard Law School and the University of California, Berkeley. He also lectured and tutored on a part-time basis at UCC while completing his doctoral thesis. Joe has been awarded scholarships by the Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences (IRCHSS), the European Commission, the Law and Society Association, and the Faculty of Law at UCC. He has presented papers both domestically and internationally on corporate regulation and published in books, journals, and the national newspapers on white-collar crime. He is also a member of the expert advisory committee on corruption for Transparency International Ireland. Joe currently lectures on company law and modules relating to regulatory theory across a variety of programmes at NUI Galway. These programmes include the Bachelor of Civil Law, the Bachelor of Corporate Law and the Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies programmes at undergraduate level, and the Law, Technology and Governance programme at LLM level. |

| My research interests relate to company law, financial regulation, white-collar and corporate crime, regulatory theory, criminology, penology and jurisprudence. |
