My Photograph

Biography:

I am currently working as Postdoctoral Research Associate on the FP7 project NEPHROPS. The project aims at developing new techniques in hatchery, rearing, fishery enhancement and aquaculture for Dublin Bay prawn (Nephrops norvegicus) stocks in Ireland as well as other European countries. One of the main objectives is to identify suitable inshore sites for potential future ranching activities, based on local hatcheries or possibly including the on growing of individuals that would otherwise be discarded (‘green heads’ or undersized individuals). The project findings will greatly contribute to inshore fisheries of Dublin Bay prawn in Ireland and will support local fishermen.

Research Interests

My research interest focus on the effects of fisheries and climate change upon marine ecosystems and sustainable resources management. In particular my research experience is centered on the analysis of these impacts on marine food chains using modelling techniques and habitat mapping to produce scientific support for policy exploration and biodiversity conservation.
