Biography

"What interests me about European Union law is that, although a vast subject-matter, its rules and processes, their implementation and enforcement have a huge bearing on the daily activities of individuals, companies and industry."

Anna-Louise Hinds holds a Bachelor of Corporate Law and an LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws) degree from N.U.I., Galway and an LL.M. (European Law) from the College of Europe, Bruges. She was an Assistant Lecturer in Law for one year at the Dublin Institute of Technology, where she taught Constitutional Law and the Law of Tort before joining the Law School at the National University of Ireland, Galway in 2001.  She was also an Associate Member of the Law School in the Law Society of Ireland from 2000-2008.  Anna-Louise’s academic interests include EU Law, Competition Law and Trade Law and she currently lectures European Union Law, Comparative Competition Law and International Trade Law at undergraduate level and EU Competition Law and Intellectual Property Rights at masters level.  She also acts as the N.U.I., Galway Director for the Annual Irish Universities’ Trip to the European Institutions.

She is currently undertaking doctoral studies in University College Dublin on the topic of the European Commission’s Antitrust Procedures and the rule of law in ensuring effective enforcement.
