Biography:

Doris is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the Discipline of Economics at the National University of Ireland, Galway.  She joined the Discipline of Economics in October 2011 after being awarded a Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Irish Research Council (IRC).  Doris completed a Masters degree (Dipl.-Ing. Agr. Univ.) in Agricultural Economics at the Technical University Munich-Weihenstephan and a PhD in Agricultural Economics at NUI, Galway.  During her PhD she has spent a semester as a visiting scholar at the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of California, Davis. She has previously worked as an agricultural economist at the Rural Economy and Development Programme, Teagasc.

Doris’  main research interest is in agricultural and environmental economics focusing on technology adoption, farmer behaviour, agricultural extension services as well as policy analysis.  Her current research focuses on spatial aspects and neighbourhood influence on the adoption of organic farming using spatial econometric and agent-based modelling techniques.
