Biography

                                                  
Dr Josephine Igoe is a Lecturer in Strategic Management and International Business at NUIG. Josephine completed her PhD at University of Warwick, and completed other postgraduate and undergraduate work at UCD.  Prior to joining NUIG, Josephine had nine years experience as a Lecturer in Management at University of Limerick. 

Josephine is currently Academic Programme Director for the MSc International Management.  Previously, Josephine was Programme Director of the MSc Strategy, Innovation and People Management from 2006-2012, and was Discipline Coordinator for International Research Seminar Series for the same period. She was External Examiner at Sligo Institute of Technology from 2012-2015. She was recently (2015) appointed as External Examiner in International Business at Waterford Institute of Technology.
                                        
Josephine's research and teaching interests revolve around capability development of multinational organisations, particularly high-technology multinationals, with a focus on multinational global strategy and subsidiary innovation and evolution. Josephine is actively involved in both national and international networks researching key issues surrounding innovation and growth in multinational organisations in a global environment. She is a member and reviewer for Academy of International Business and European International Business Association.



Josephine teaches Global Business, Business Management, Strategic Management at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. 
 
 
 
 

 

 

Research Interests

Josephine’s research interests encompass strategic management, technological innovation management, and  international business management, with a focus on the following research areas:

  1. The evolutionary role of subsidiaries with foci on subsidiary technology development, subsidiary autonomy, and subsidiary strategy and initiative.
  2. Parent-Subsidiary Relationships
  3. Technological change and the transfer of technology in international MNE networks for innovation- focus on subsidiary specific advantage creation.
  4. The networked multinational, in particular, the technological learning/sharing process in the MNE networks.
