Biography:

Shammyla joined the National University of Ireland, Galway in September 2012. She holds a PhD in Finance from the University of Glasgow, UK sponsored by the prestigious University of Glasgow Postgraduate Scholarship and Overseas Research Student Awards Scheme (ORSAS).  She has also obtained two master degrees, MS (Research) and MBA, with specialization in Finance, both with distinctions. 

Prior to joining NUI Galway, Shammyla has served as an undergraduate tutor at the University of Glasgow and has worked as a lecturer in accounting and finance for approximately two years at Pakistani Universities, where she gained experience of lecturing at postgraduate and undergraduate levels. In NUI Galway, she mainly teaches finance related courses such as Business Finance I & II at undergraduate levels and Financial Management I &II, Advance Finance and International Corporate Finance at postgraduate levels.

Her main research interests concern dividend policy, capital structure, credit ratings and currently has some working papers. She welcomes any Masters’ and PhD students to work in her area of interest.
