Biography:
| Prof. Terrence McDonough's Ph.D. is from the University of Massachusetts at
Amherst. Before joining the National University of Ireland, Galway in 1995,
other appointments were at the Institute for Industry Studies, New York State
School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University, at Canisius
College, Buffalo, and at Dublin City University. He has held visiting positions
at Curtin University, Perth, University of Newcastle, Australia and the
Universite De Reims. Previous books include Contemporary Capitalism and Its
Crises: Social Structure of Accumulation Theory for the 21st
Century, edited with Michael Reich and David Kotz; The HEAP
Chart: Hierarchy of Earnings, Attributes and Privilege Analysis,
with Jason Loughry; Uninhabited Ireland: Tara, the M3, and Public Spaces in
Galway, edited with Lionel Pilkington and Aine Ni Leime; Was Ireland A
Colony?: Economics, Politics, Ideology and Culture in the Irish Nineteenth
Century; Mind Your Own Business: Economics at Work, with David
Jacobson and Keith Warnock; and Social Structures of Accumulation: The
Political Economy of Growth and Crisis, edited with Michael Reich and David
Kotz. He has published numerous book chapters and articles in Irish
Historical Studies, Review of Radical Political Economics, Economic and
Industrial Democracy, Research in Political Economy, Competition and Change,
Journal of the History of Economic Thought, The Australian Journal of Irish
Studies, Science and Society, and the Journal of Economic Issues, among
others. He has been on the editorial board of the Review of Radical
Political Economics and is currently on the editorial board of the
International Journal of Pluralism and Economics Education. His current
interests include globalization, American and Irish economic history, political
economy, the history of economic thought and economics education for labour and
community groups.
