Biography

Dr Ciara Egan is a lecturer in Clinical Neuroscience within the School of Psychology. Prior to her appointment she completed her PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience at Bangor University, and following this worked as a researcher at the University of Oxford studying cerebral asymmetries. She is currently Course Coordinator for the MSc in Clinical Neuroscience, and her research focuses on the cognitive neuroscience and open science, predominantly using EEG, event-related potentials and pupil dilation. She is also an ENLIGHT Open Science Ambassador, is active in science outreach/dissemination, and contributes to large-scale projects on embedding open scholarship into education.

Research Interests

My primary research interests surround the cognitive neuroscience and open scence, with a specific focus on language and other core cognitive functions. I use a wide-range of neuroscientific techniques for this purpose including online/behavioural testing, EEG, event-related potentials (ERPs), eye-tracking, and pupillometry.
