Ms Alessandra Mileo
Alessandra Mileo is a Research Fellow and Adjunct Lecturer at INSIGHT Research Center, NUI Galway.
She has been managing the overall research agenda of the Reasoning and Querying Unit, under the guidance of Prof. Stefan Decker, and her research activities are in the area of Knowledge Representation, Stream Reasoning, Sensor Networks and Semantic Technologies.
Previously she was appointed as a Postdoctoral researcher at the Nomadis Lab, in the Department of Informatics, Systems and Communication of the University of Milano-Bicocca, where she worked on Reasoning techniques for Activity Recognition and Wireless Sensor Networks applied to Assisted Living. These activities have resulted in a successful proposal funded under the EU AAL program.
During her post-doctoral work, Dr. Mileo has been involved in teaching at undergrad and postgrad level, and she is the module leader in Emerging Web Media, part of the Master in Diigital Media at the Houston Film School (NUI Galway).
Dr. Mileo has been involved in the organization of several workshops and Doctoral Consortium tracks as well as invited member in panel discussions, and she has been active PC member of more than 40 conferences and several Journals in her area of expertise, and she has been an active Member of the COST Action on Agreement Technologies (European Cooperation in Science and Technology), IC0801, participating in research activities and exchange visits related to WG1 (Semantics) and WG5 (Trust).
She is also a member of the Italian AI Association (AI*IA) and the Italian working group on Knowledge Representation and Automated Reasoning (RCRA), and member of the Steering Committee of Web Reasoning and Rule Systems Association (RRA).
