Biography

I am a first-year PhD student funded by CRT-AI in the Unit for Natural Language Processing at the Data Science Institute, National University of Ireland, Galway, where I am supervised by Dr. Paul Buitelaar and Dr. Mihael Arčan. My research is in the field of Natural Language Generation which is a subfield of Artificial Intelligence and Computational Linguistics that is concerned with tools and techniques to produce meaningful texts in a human language such as English from some underlying non-linguistic representation of information. 

I hold an MSc. in Computer Science (Data Analytics) from National University of Ireland, Galway where my thesis was focused on detecting bot behaviour in social media, under the supervision of Dr. Conor Hayes. Prior to joining the PhD programme, I worked as a Research Assistant at the Insight Centre for Data Analytics at NUI Galway on the NURS project (Neural Machine Translation in Under Resourced Scenario) in collaboration with the United Language Group in Barcelona. The project aimed to improve the performance of Neural Machine Translation in low-resource and domain-specific scenarios by leveraging knowledge from existing Rule-Based Machine Translation systems.
