Dr Eugene Farrell Ph.D
Eugene completed a BSc at University College Cork in Earth Science (1991-1995). He then completed a Masters of Science (MS) degree in Geography at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, USA. Following this he worked in the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) industry for four years (1998-2002) in Los Angeles mapping natural and environmental hazards. He moved to Italy in 2003 to work at the Università degli Studi di Firenze on research and management projects focused along the Tuscany coastline. He completed a Phd in Geography at Texas A&M University, USA (2006-2012). During this time period he was an National Science Foundation (NSF) fellow and visiting scholar at James Cook University, Queensland, Australia. In January 2012 he obtained a Postdoctoral Associate at the Institute of Marine and Coastal Science, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey (USA). Eugene joined the Discipline of Geography at NUIG in August 2012.
