Biography

Jane is a Professor of Health Psychology and the Director of the Mobile Technology and Health (mHealth) Research Group where she leads an innovative research programme of research in the area of personalised connected health. Jane was awarded the President's Award for Research Excellence (2020) (Established Researcher) and the Dean's Award for Research Impact (2020) in recognition of her work. Her projects include over 10 million euro as PI/Co-Applicant including: Horizon 2020 Industrial Leadership Innovation Action (4.1 million), Marie Curie (1.1 million), Interreg (1.2 million), HRB (567k), Irish Cancer Society (100k) and SFI (578k).

Jane is the Co-Leader of the Health and Wellbeing Cluster in the Whitaker Institute and serves on the International Advisory Board for the European FAITH Project and the Research Advisory Board for the Irish Cancer Society.  She is Associate Editor of the Journal Psychology and Health and on the Editorial Board for International Journal of Behavioural Medicine and the British Journal of Health Psychology. She is former Chair of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI)  Division of Health Psychology and is an active member of the European Health Psychology Society where she has served on the Conference Organising Committee (2005, 2018), on the Scientific Committee and as Track Chair on multiple occasions.

Research Interests

Jane Walsh is the Director of the mHealth Research Group where she leads an innovative research programme on technology and health behaviour. Jane leads funded research of over 10 million euro as PI/Co-Applicant funded by H2020HRB, Irish Cancer Society and SFI. Jane was awarded the President's Award for Research Excellence (2020) (Established Researcher) and the Dean's Award for Research Impact (2020) in recognition of her work.

Teaching Interests

Jane leads the Research Methods teaching in the School of Psychology and has particular interest in multivariate statistics and trial methodologies. She developed and teaches an elective in Technology and Health which teaches students about state-of-the-art developments in health technology, with an emphasis on innovation and entrepreneurship. She has also developed a new module on Behavioural Medicine and contributes to a number of other Health Psychology modules. She is current Director of the Structured PhD in Psychology and Health where she has developed several modules including Health Services Research. She lectures in the area of Mobile Technology and Health Behaviour  to the MSc in Preventive Cardiology.
