Biography

Dr Kate Harvey is Lecturer in Children’s Studies and Director of the BA Connect with Children’s Studies since 2017. She has worked with the Children’s Studies programme at NUI Galway since 2013; from 2013-2016 she held a postdoctoral Teaching and Research Fellowship in Children’s Studies. Prior to this, Dr Harvey worked as an occasional lecturer at Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin, where she taught courses on children’s literature, theatre, and medieval and early modern literature. She holds a B.A. and Ph.D from Trinity College Dublin and an M.A. from King’s College London. She regularly reviews children’s books for Children’s Books Ireland’s Inis magazine and annual Recommended Reading Guide. Dr Harvey’s research interests include transmedial adaptation for children, Shakespeare in children’s media, theatre for young audiences, animation, and costume and clothing in children’s culture
