Biography:

Noelle is a lecturer at the Irish Centre for Human Rights.  She has masters degrees in both Law and Irish and a Higher Diploma in Education. She undertook her Ph.D. research on the topic of wars of national liberation and self-determination in NUI, Galway.  Prior to joining the Irish Centre for Human Rights, she held a lecturing position in the School of Law and Government, Dublin City University, where she lectured in international law and was the Director of MA programmes.  She was a visiting fellow at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law during the academic year 2009-2010 and a member of the Department of Foreign Affairs / NGO Human Rights Committee 2010-2012. She is currently a member of the Council of the Irish Association of Law Teachers.  She has particular research interests in international humanitarian law, non-state actors and international law and language rights. She is currently supervising a number of PhD students in the fields of human rights and international criminal law.

 

Research Interests

Noelle has particular research interests in the areas of international humanitarian law, particulary with regard to non-state actors, international human rights law, in particular with regard to language rights and international criminal law.

Teaching Interests

Noelle has taught various international law subjects in the past and at the moment is teaching the rights of minorities, international criminal law procedure to LLM students and introduction to international human rights to BA Connect students.
