Biography:
| Dr. Barry is a college lecturer in Microbiology at NUI Galway and is the Principal Investigator of the Molecular Diagnostics Research Group at NUIG. His research interests are primarily focused on the research, development and commercialisation of platform nucleic acid based diagnostics technologies for the detection and identification of microbial agents. Dr. Barry is the named inventor of eleven filed and granted patents in the area of molecular based diagnostics for the detection of pathogens associated with infectious disease. These technologies, over the past number of years years, have generated approximately 10 million in funding and revenue through industry driven commercial product research and development and through intellectual property licensing agreements. Dr. Barry’s technologies are embedded in commercial products currently available in the marketplace. |
