Biography:
Dympna is Registered General Nurse with nursing experience in palliative care and care of older people. She has worked in several different cultures including Australia, Sudan, Kosovo and Angola. Her specialist subjects include service learning, health promotion and research methods. She teaches across a range of programmes from undergraduate to master’s level and supervises students undertaking research dissertations at postgraduate and PhD level. Her research interests include issues relating to health promotion, care of older people, self management of chronic diseases in particular diabetes, COPD and dementia care. She has a keen interest in promoting healthier lifestyles for older people and in examining ways of supporting and maintaining the health and functional capacity of older people. She has specific expertise in qualitative research methods and in the development and implementation of structured education and lifestyle intervention programmes for chronic health conditions. |
