Biography

Professor Soliman a clinical cardiologist with more than 2 decades of experience in cardiovascular imaging, clinical trials and innovation in medicine has pioneered several non-invasive imaging techniques and methods. He holds the position of Professor with a personal chair in cardiovascular research at the National university of Ireland Galway. He is the co-founder and Medical Director of CORRIB Research Center for Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging and Core Laboratory, which is a research lab for precision medicine. In addition, he is the director of the Cardio-Oncology Research program at the same university. His main research focus is the application of precision medicine in management of patients with heart failure and guiding structural heart interventions.

Dr Soliman’s imaging Core Lab methodology and techniques have been used to assess pharmacological and device trials aiming at resolving the issue of non-response to CRT, optimization of device therapy and to provide mechanistic assessments of many first-in-man device trials as well as early phase pharma trials. For the last decade, he has been the chairman of non-invasive imaging core laboratory for several industry- and non-industry sponsored clinical trials. Under his leadership the Structural Heart and Heart Failure Core Laboratory managed to successfully analyse imaging (Echocardiography, MSCT, MRI and Aortography) and ECG data from over 15,000 patients including data for US FDA submission from currently running Four major Heart Failure, TAVR and Tricuspid Valve Interventional trials spanning industry funding over 10 million Euros. He is the PI of an ongoing trials aiming at personalized medicine in heart failure, cardio-oncology and guiding structural heart interventions.

Dr Soliman (H-index 44) is the author and co-author of more than 250 publications in peer-reviewed journals including the Lancet, Circulation, European Heart Journal and JACC journals. He is editor /co-editor of several books including the interventional manual of tricuspid valve disease and non-compaction cardiomyopathy. He contributed as an editor of several books in the field including three books in the latest 3 years about Tricuspid Valve Disease, Quantification of Contrast Kinetics and Non-compaction Cardiomyopathy. Dr Soliman is a regular Faculty at several top Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgical Conferences including the annual meetings of the ESC, EACTS, ACC, TCT, EuroPCR, EuroEcho and PCR-London Valves.

Dutch citizen, born in Egypt and graduated summa cum laude, Dux of class of 1996, as M.D. from Al-Azhar University Medical School, Cairo, Egypt. He completed 8 years of clinical training to Cardiologist at the same institution. Moved to the Netherlands in 2005, trained in non-invasive cardiovascular imaging, electrophysiology and heart failure research at the Thoraxcenter, Erasmus MC Rotterdam and affiliated with the same institution thereafter in clinical research for more than a decade before moving to Ireland to lead a research lab in precision medicine.
