Postgraduate Programmes
The Philosophy Department is committed to fostering a strong sense of community amongst its Graduate Students by facilitating regular opportunities for Graduate Students to meet and discuss Philosophical issues. At present there are 25 Graduate Students in the Department. Outside of the formal seminars for MA students, students have the following opportunities for developing their philosophical knowledge and skills:
1. A Graduate Research Seminar meets regularly at which students can present their research.
2. A Graduate Reading Group meets also on a regular basis and in the past few semesters we have read texts from Kierkegaard, Nietzsche and Merleau-Ponty.
3. The Philosophy Department and COBRA host
conferences with prominent Irish and international speakers on a regular basis.
4. At the Staff Student Research Seminar students and staff members meet to discuss current research by members of the Philosophy Department.
5. A Tutorial Teaching Development Group meets several times a semester to support students in developing their skills in the area of teaching.
