Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
The PhD is a research degree assessed on the basis of a thesis, with assessment by an internal examiner and an external examiner. The Department welcomes applications from students interested in research in any of the main areas of philosophy. Although any topic in philosophy will be considered, It is advisable to seek supervision of a project that relates to the areas of specialization of department members, such as political theory, contemporary ethics, bioethics, philosophy of science, Aristotle, Heidegger, Levinas, hermeneutics, phenomenology, philosophy of mind, Irish Thought, philosophy of medicine, philosophy of psychiatry. Applicants should have obtained the degree of MA or an equivalent
