
Pascal O'Gorman
Emeritus Professor
Pascal O'Gorman was born in Ennis, Co. Clare. He graduated with a B.Sc. in mathematics and mathematical physics at NUIG. He then studied philosophy at L'Institut Supérieur de Philosophie, Leuven and at the National University of Ireland.

Research and Publications
O'Gorman's postgraduate PhD research focused on Poíncaré's geometrical conventionalism. Poíncaré's philosophy of arithmetic, geometry and physics continues to be an abiding research interest on which he has published in various international journals. He has also published on various debates in philosophy of science, ranging over Churchland, Davidson, Hesse, Popper, Quine, van Fraassen and Wittgenstein. In recent years, with his colleague, Professor Boylan, he has made an original contribution to economic methodology, especially in their development of causal holism.
