My research interests are focussed on the connection between Plato’s treatment of the arts and the implicitly aesthetic core to his method of dialectic. I am also working on the aesthetic theories of Hans-Georg Gadamer, especially his notion of ’play’. I am similarly examining Gadamer’s treatment of Plato, and the connection between his treatment of art on the one hand and his celebration of dialogue on the other. Before coming to N.U.I. Galway I worked with the Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences and as a College Tutor in University College, Dublin.
