Syllabus
- Introduction and review of quantum mechanics.
- Linear harmonic oscillator, ladder operators.
- Matrices, matrix representation of operators, matrix diagonalization, 2-dimensional linear harmonic oscillator in a magnetic field.
- Angular momentum, spherical harmonics, the hydrogen atom.
- Perturbation theory; time independent and time dependent.
- Relativistic wave equation, spin, generalized angular momentum.
- Numerical solutions to the Schrodinger equation.

Credit: 4.5 ECTS.
Prerequisite: EP356 Quantum Physics.
Semester: 1.
Examination: 2-hour paper in semester 1, answer three questions out of five. There is no repeat examination.
Lecture times: Two lectures per week at Monday 10 am and Wednesday 10 am.
