How many places are available on the B.Sc. (Hons.) Podiatric Medicine?

There are 25 places in the undergraduate course available annually.  All applications for the course go directly through the Central Applications Office with some places also available for mature students.

What are the entry requirements for the course?  All applicants to the course must:

a)     Be at least 17 years of age on 15th January following entrance to the university

b)    Have sat the following subjects in the Leaving Certificate

Irish (not Foundation level)EnglishMathematics (not Foundation level)A Laboratory Science subject (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry (joint), Agricultural Science)Another languageAnother subject

 b)    Have attained a Grade C3 in Higher Level papers in any two of the above subjects and

c)     A minimum of Grade D3 in Ordinary or Higher Level papers in the other Four

These are the basic requirements for the course with successful graduates onto this year’s programme achieving a minimum of 465 points in their Leaving Certificate.

What are the A-Level requirements for entry to the B.Sc. (Hons.) in Podiatry?  For A–Level and other entry requirements (e.g. International Baccalaureate) please contact the Admissions Office.

I have been offered a place on the programme but am unable to take it up this year.  Is it possible to defer?  Applicants who have been offered an Undergraduate first-year place in the University may apply for deferral of entry for one year.  The application must be made in writing and only in respect of the course in which the offer is made.  For further information, please contact the Admissions Office

I have completed my B.Sc. in Nursing.  Will I be able to join the Podiatry course and what exemptions will I get?  For entry requirements please click here.  Please note that exemptions will be determined on an individual basis only after students are accepted onto the course.

Can I gain some shadowing experience with Staff and students in Podiatric Medicine?  We offer an innovative shadowing programme for prospective students in Merlin Park Podiatry Clinic. This offers the perspective student the opportunity to get an appreciation what will generally happen in a Podiatry clinic and what will be expected from them as students.
