In September 2008, NUI Galway opened its doors to the very first cohort of undergraduate Podiatry students in the Republic of Ireland. This is a monumental occasion that will change the profession of Podiatry in Ireland. The development of a podiatry course at NUI Galway is an exciting initiative that has been developed through close partnership with NUI Galway and the Health Services Executive (HSE) West. A dedicated podiatry clinical facility is being developed by the HSE at the Merlin Park Hospital site where the majority of the students’ clinical education and training will be undertaken.
There will be 25 places on the undergraduate course available annually. The Department is committed to providing a comprehensive education for Podiatrists and the curriculum is based on best available evidence in relation to both theory and practice.
