Welcome to the Discipline of Podiatric Medicine
The Discipline of Podiatric Medicine was established in NUI Galway in 2008 and offers the only BSc in Podiatric Medicine course in the Republic of Ireland. The development of the podiatry course at NUI Galway was an exciting initiative and has been developed through close partnership with NUI Galway and the Health Services Executive (HSE) West. Dedicated teaching facilities have been developed at Áras Moyola and a state of the art podiatry clinic has also been renovated by the HSE at the Merlin Park Hospital site. This is where the majority of the students’ clinical education and training will be undertaken throughout the duration of the programme. An innovative surgery theatre is under construction at the moment and will be available to the undergraduate students from early 2015.
There are 25 places on the undergraduate course available annually. We welcome applications from school leavers as well as mature applicants. The Discipline is committed to providing a comprehensive education for Podiatrists and the curriculum is based on best available evidence in relation to both theory and practice.
