“As two podiatry students at NUI Galway we were delighted to be sponsored by Biofact to attend the annual UK podiatry conference in Harrogate. It was an inspiring event attended by in excess of a thousand people from our profession and it was fantastic to see how far podiatry has advanced in the UK. If similar progression is made in Ireland the future for us podiatrists looks very bright indeed.
We attended many lectures given by renowned speakers from the UK, USA and Australia. They covered topics such as amputations in diabetes, Hallux abductovalgus, Pes Cavus, Hallux rigidus, Hallux Varus, Podiatric Surgery and a lecture on biomechanics by Howard Dananberg from the USA who is an expert in his field. Through the variety of lectures we were exposed to the many specialist fields which we can choose following qualification such as podopaediatrics, biomechanics, surgery, and wound care. In addition to the lectures there were many trade stands to explore with various products on display from instruments and equipment for clinics through to dressings and wound care products.
Overall it was a fantastic experience which we enjoyed immensely”
