Financing a postgraduate course is the responsibility of the student.
|
A limited number of College fellowships are available, and are awarded for the purpose of assisting postgraduate students who are proceeding full-time to a postgraduate degree (by research) at the National University of Ireland, Galway. The holder may not simultaneously register for another course.
The fellowships are awarded in the first instance for a period of one year, but may, subject to the availability of funding therefore, be renewed on an annual basis, provided the holder’s progress in his/her studies is satisfactory and renewal is recommended in writing by the Head of School. Normally, a Fellowship will not be tenable beyond two years for the degree of Master, or beyond three for the degree of PhD, or beyond three years in all.
Closing dates/applications: Arts (forms available in May), Commerce (an application for the programme is deemed an application for the fellowship), Engineering (apply in May/June) and Science (forms available from College Office or individual Departments in late-April).
Contact the relevant College Office for details on fellowships. Academic Departments may also be in a position to offer other sources of funding for their courses. Information on College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Celtic Studies fellowships here.
Note: The Bachelor of Laws (LLB) does not come within the fellowship scheme.
The NUI Galway International Scholarship Programme provides a number of postgraduate scholarships for outstanding students from South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Ethiopia. More information here.
