The Department of Psychology is delighted to announce that a new postgraduate diploma/masters in applied behaviour analysis. This represents an exciting development for both the department and the university.
The programme subscribes to the scientist-practitioner model, and provides students with a thorough and integrated training in academic, practical and research aspects of applied behaviour analysis. The programme will prepare graduates for careers in clinical and educational settings as applied behaviour analysts and will provide the academic training necessary for graduates to apply for board certification in behaviour analysis (see http://www.bacb.com/). Supervised work experience will also be provided for those wishing to apply for board certification.
This unique new course aims to teach students the defining features and principles of behaviour and their application in various applied and clinical settings. Methods of research design, behavioural and functional assessment, intervention, and empirical evaluation of behavioural treatment approaches will be taught.

Applications are invited from candidates who hold a second-class honours degree (or equivalent). Evidence of relevant experience and motivation will be taken into account in offering
places on the course.
It is intended that graduates will become certified behaviour analysts and may be employed in special schools, home-based programmes, research programmes, community development programmes, residential centres, and day care centres and as teachers and researchers in training and academic settings.
