Flexible training opportunities include the Researcher Workshop Series offering an extensive range of hands-on workshops, run throughout the academic year, which all research students are eligible to attend. Combined with online research skills courseware and advisory services there is a host of flexible opportunities to develop your research skill portfolio.

The James Hardiman Library is at the heart of the campus and houses the principal research collections for the College of Arts, Social Sciences & Celtic Studies, the College of Business, Social Policy & Law, the College of Engineering & Informatics, and the College of Science. There is a separate medical library located in the Clinical Science Institute at University College Hospital and a separate Nursing Studies library, both of which primarily serve researchers in the College of Medicine, Nursing & Health Sciences. A new Nursing Library adjoining the James-Hardiman Library is due to open in Summer 2009 and construction of a state-of-the-art Humanities and Social Sciences Research Library is due to commence shortly with opening scheduled for 2010.
