Congratulations. You have been made an offer to a postgraduate research programme at NUI Galway, via the Postgraduate Applications Centre (PAC) online application system. It is important now, if you intend to accept this offer, that you read the information below.
Please confirm acceptance/non-acceptance of the offer via the PAC online system (by clicking ACCEPT or DECLINE in the relevant section). When you accept your offer you must proceed to the Registration Office website for information on how to register: http://www.nuigalway.ie/registration/student/new_postgrad.html
When you are presented with an online offer in PAC you are also presented with the Terms & Conditions (T&C) that are associated with that offer. You must accept these T&C in order to accept the offer. You can view these T&C here.
Please note Research candidates are NOT required to pay a deposit to secure their place on an accepted programme.
Non-NUI Galway students and NUIG students who attended pre-2001 must also submit a passport-type photograph, as this is required for your I.D. card. If you haven’t already uploaded a photo electronically as part of the PAC application process, please do so immediately. You can do this within PAC by logging into your PAC account, and going to the Update Profile section, and then selecting “Profile Photograph” option. See screenshot below:

E.U./NON-E.U. Status (For fee purposes)
International (NON-E.U.) students are obliged to pay higher fees than those payable by E.U. students.
The definition of an E.U. student for fee purposes is as follows:-
E.U. nationals (i.e., holding an E.U. Passport/or Birth Certificate) who have been ordinarily resident* in an E.U. member state for at least three of the five years immediately preceding their entry to the third level course.
* “ordinarily resident” excludes residency for educational purposes.
There is more detailed information available at the
Fees Office web site.
Postgraduate registration is online; schedule and other details here. You should allow 3–5 working days from accepting your offer on PAC before you attempt to register online to allow your student record to be created.
Important: if you are an NUI Galway current student or graduate your current/old NUIG student number is required for online registration (i.e., please do not use your PAC application number). If you are a non-NUIG student starting postgraduate studies at NUI Galway then your PAC number will become your student I.D. number and is required for online registration.
Note: Registration will not be permitted until conditions of any offer made are met and confirmed. Non-NUI Galway students who have been made a conditional offer via the PAC system will need to submit to PAC (post to: 1 Courthouse Square, Galway) full certified results (and/other any other documents stipulated) to fulfil the conditions of their offer.
On receipt of deposit a hard copy offer letter will automatically be sent to non-E.U. applicants, who require this for visa purposes.
