Annual Sports Awards presented

The social highlight of the sporting year took place during an enforced quiet period for athletes due to restrictions resulting from the Foot and Mouth crisis. However, that in no way affected the excitement and pride with which the student athletes collected their awards. The broad range of sports represented indicated the variety, commitment and success of the many clubs on campus.
NUI, Galway Olympians Neville Maxwell, Éadaoin Ní Challaráin and Olive Loughnane were honoured with Special Achievement Awards. Olive Loughnane was unable to attend the ceremony as she was training abroad at the time.
