Visit NUI Galway stand !!! |
|
If you plan on visiting the activities down at the Galway Docks for the Volvo Ocean Race, do pay a visit to the NUI Galway stand, co-ordinated by the Environmental Change Institute (ECI). The stand has been set-up in a tent allocated to the “Explorers Education” group - a group dedicated to ocean science outreach - which includes the ECI, the Marine Institute, and the Galway Atlantaquarium. Our stand displays outreach materials representing two major Earth & Ocean Science projects – the Griffith Biogeoscience Project, and the CoralFISH project. The display includes the recent video footage captured by the new national Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Holland I aboard the Marine Institute research vessel, the RV Celtic Explorer, which confirmed the existence of a major new coral reef province on the southern end of the Porcupine Bank off the west coast of Ireland. You will find us on the Breathnach Quay, between the climbing wall and the wind turbines, from 10-4 on weekdays, where we are busily attending to visiting school groups and the general public. |
