The Foundation Diploma in Skills for Life and Employment provides you with the opportunity to develop a portfolio of core skills that are seen as important for personal and professional development. Strong core skills are seen as contributing to quality of life factors for both low-skilled and high-skilled individuals. Core skills include:
The aim of the Foundation Diploma is to provide you with the opportunity to develop a personal portfolio of core life and employment skills. Development of the portfolio will allow you to identify your personal and professional skills, identify the strengths of your skills and plan a path to further develop your skills.
When you have successfully completed the programme you will be able to:

This part time course runs frequently throughout the year, and involves:
Attendance at two 2-day workshops (with an interval of approx 3 weeks between the two workshops)
The course is held at various locations throughout the country. Typical locations include Galway, Maynooth and Cork.
The course fee is €950.00 including your course material. A discount of up to 50% is available for those currently on the live register for the unemployed (see scholarship form below). A deposit of €100.00 is required with your application form.
You will be awarded the Foundation Diploma in Skills & Employment. This course offers 10 credits (ECTS) at NFQ Level 7.
Students who have successfully completed the Skills & Employment course can apply for the Certificate in Training and Education. They may receive an exemption from the Skills & Employment module and may receive a fee reduction.
The next course will be run in April 2012. Exact dates and locations will be confirmed nearer the time.
