Welcome to the School of Psychology at NUI, Galway!
Welcome to the School of Psychology which I am very proud to lead! The School is dynamic, innovative and internationally recognised for its teaching, research, service to students and contribution to the wider community. Strengths of our School include the suite of professionally accredited undergraduate and postgraduate programmes on offer. We have approximately 1000 students enrolled on undergraduate degrees and higher diploma programmes. We provide MSc programmes in Health Psychology and Applied Behavioural Analysis and a range of PhD programmes and a Doctor of Psychological Science in Clinical Psychology, all of which host a vibrant community of doctoral students. There are four thematic research clusters within the School: Clinical Behavioural and Biological Psychology; Developmental and Social Psychology; Perception Cognition and Action; Psychology and Health, all of which enable fruitful collaborations for research grants, advance of knowledge and publications. In recent years, academic staff have been involved in research grant awards of several million Euro as principal or co-investigators and our School continues to develop a strong profile nationally in terms of quantity and quality of research output. I am delighted that a new building, due for completion in Summer 2013 will bring the School of Psychology onto one location in the centre of the campus for the first time in its 39 year history.
