Diarmuid Verrier
Background
Diarmuid Verrier received both his BA and PhD from NUIG. His doctoral work involved an investigation into the personality trait schizotypy. As well as looking at the psychometric properties of the most widely used instruments used to measure schizotypy, he also studied some of its cognitive and psychophysiological correlates.
Diarmuid is currently working within the School of Psychology as a researcher on a Health Research Board funded project entitled “Experimental and cross-sectional analyses of sleep duration and negative mood on blood pressure reactivity and hemodynamic profile in young, working, and older adults”.
Research & Teaching
Diarmuid’s research interests include personality psychology and the intersection between normal personality and psychological disorders; psychometric validation of questionnaires and other such measures; cognitive psychology as it relates to schizophrenia and related constructs; and psychophysiological responses to stressors in various populations.
Diarmuid has had responsibility for various courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. His primary area of teaching expertise is in statistics and research methodologies, but he has also contributed to courses on social psychology, health psychology, and pseudoscience.
