University of Galway is ranked in the top 350 universities around the world, according to Times Higher Education World University Rankings. Our ranking improved for 2023 as a result of higher scores related to our research citations and for our teaching.

 Times Higher Education’s Impact Rankings:

University of Galway has surged into the top 50 universities in the world for sustainability and is now the Number 1 university in Ireland for sustainable development. The 2022 edition of Times Higher Education’s Impact Rankings places the University 47th out of 1,406 institutions, moving up from 82nd position last year. The report also puts University of Galway as the 5th best university in the world for Sustainable Development - Responsible Consumption and Production. The assessment is based on submissions from universities in line with the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. It is a measure of the extent to which institutions are having a positive social and economic impact on the planet; from climate action and gender equality to good health and well-being.
