INTRODUCTION
All first time undergraduate students are asked to complete the Higher Education Authority (HEA) survey as part
of online registration. More information is available

Information is collected from
first time undergraduate students on full-time programmes. It is o
ptional to
submit this information as part of the registration process on the following areas:
- details of any disability / learning difficulty and supports required
- details of socio-economic background of parents
- details on cultural and ethnic background
COLLECTION OF INFORMATION
All information collected in this survey is recorded and stored in compliance with the University's
Data Protection
Policy and shared with the relevant offices within the University including the Disability Support Office, Access
Office and Mature Students Office.
The purpose of gathering the information on disability / learning difficulties and required supports, socio-economic background of parents and cultural and ethnic background of parents is to measure equality of access to higher
education and to put in place the resources needed to attract and support students of all backgrounds.

Students should also note that the provision of information there is a seperate process for registering with the
Disability Support Service and securing supports. Further infromation is available from the
Disability Support
Service Website.
Students from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds may also wish to refer to the website for the
Access Office.
Finally, mature students on full-time undergraduate programmes may wish to refer to the
Mature Students Office
