What is it?
A
Student ID Card is issued to every student when they first come to NUIG. This card will act as official identification for the duration of your course and is to be used only by the person to whom it is issued.
What is it used for?
Your Student ID card will serve as your official identification for all college related matters, while also giving you access to many of the facilities/services throughout the campus.
You must present your Student ID Card as official identification when:
• requesting exam result transcripts from the
Student Information Desk,
• presenting to sit a university exam. (Failure to show Student ID will result
in a €30 fine)
• when getting any forms or certification stamped in the Student Information Desk.
Your Student ID card is required to avail of services and facilities across the campus. Such as:
• accessing the library
• borrowing books from the library
• access to certain buildings and rooms
• to avail of student services (Health Centre)
• signing up for clubs and societies
Do I need to have my card at all times?
A student must produce a student card when requested by a university member of staff. Your student card is also required to avail of many of the services and facilities across the campus, (which you will use on a daily basis).
It is therefore essential to carry your card at all times.
What if I lose my Student ID Card?
It is essential, that you report a lost or stolen student card immediately to the
Student Information Desk. Once you have reported your card missing, it can be deactivated, preventing others from
using it.
A replacement card will then be issued at a cost of €30.
(Note:
students will receive a replacement student card free of charge in cases of a
reported crime e.g. assault, burglary.
To avail of the free replacement, students must, produce a copy of the
Garda crime report. The report must contain the
investigating Garda name, Garda Pulse Incident Number and be signed by the Superintendent in charge).
