REMEDI Student Wins Molecular Medicine Ireland Award

REMEDI PhD student Eanna Connaughton was awarded the MMI Medal for his work at the recent MMI Education & Training Annual Scientific Meeting.

Over 115 people attended the MMI Education & Training Annual Scientific Meeting, which took place on 12 March 2014 in the Science Gallery, TCD. The meeting brought together research students from the Clinical & Translational Research Scholars Programme (CTRSP), Alumni from the MMI Clinician Scientist Fellowship Programme (CSFP) and the wider research community for a stimulating day of research presentations.

MMI CTRSP Scholar Eanna Connaughton, based at REMEDI in NUI Galway, was awarded the MMI Medal for his oral presentation ‘Phenotypic, Functional and Molecular Analysis of Novel Human Monocyte Subpopulations’.

MMI CEO, Dr Graham Love, opened the meeting which comprised oral research presentations by CTRSP Scholars and Keynote Addresses from Dr Willard Dere (Senior Vice-President and International Chief Medical Officer, Amgen) and Professor John Iredale (Professor of Medicine at the University of Edinburgh and Director of the MRC Centre for Inflammation Research).
