Mayo Clinic
REMEDI has a research alliance with the Mayo Clinic, based in Rochester, Minnesota, USA. The Mayo Clinic is one of one of the world's leading centres for research into regenerative medicine as well translational clinical therapies.
The partnership involves a collaborative research exchange whereby REMEDI researchers utilise their expertise in adult stem cell with the research team at the Mayo Clinic lead by Prof. Anthony Windebank which examines novel therapies looking into tissue engineering being pioneered at the Clinic. The partnership aims to develop regenerative treatments for spinal cord injury. Researchers are investigating the use of stem cell and gene therapy products with biomaterial scaffolds.
REMEDI, along with neuroscientists at NUI Galway, is also currently collaborating with Mayo Clinic in developing neuroregenerative therapies for conditions such as motor neuron and Parkinson’s disease.
